If music can change lives, then students at Decker Middle School may never be the same after today.
Decker Middle School Fine Arts Academy students received a visit from the Austin Symphony Tuesday thanks to a grant from Applied Materials. This is the first time the Austin Symphony performed at a Manor ISD school.
More than 80 professional musicians came to the school to perform classical pieces based around the theme of resiliency. Teachers received curriculum documents that aide along with the theme of the performance. Between songs Maestro Peter Bay told the students how the composer overcame some form of adversity, such as how Beethoven composed pieces even after going deaf.
This was a unique opportunity for the students of DMS, thank you to Applied Materials and the Austin Symphony for making it possible.
