MISD Celebrates Teachers of the Month for February

As part of Manor ISD continued effort to celebrate the hard work that is being done throughout the district, each principal was asked to nominate one teacher from their campus to be recognized at the February school board meeting. Congratulations to all those chosen!
Blake Manor Elementary: Christie Hardi

Ms. Hardi is an exceptionally committed educator, with a work ethic which rivals most. She is highly invested in both the campus and our students, all grade levels inclusive. As the team lead and ELA lead teacher, she spearheads facilitation of activities which engage the students and teachers in team-building and academic growth. Ms. Hardi’s teaching and planning processes are deeply steeped in data analysis, and keen attention to hands-on learning. Some of the innovative techniques she utilizes are perfect examples of how she motivates students and inspires high levels of academic growth. She is actively engaged in strategic planning for student achievement and is always one to work in direct collaboration with her team, instructional coaches, and the Curriculum & Instruction Department.

Coach Rodriguez is not only influential with the academic growth of students, but has excelled in ensuring ALL students K-5 are familiar with the IB learner profile attributes. As an IB candidate school, she has gone above and beyond to instill these characteristics in ALL our students! Coach Rodriguez is not only the team lead for specials at BTE, she is also the Physical Education lead in MISD. Her leadership and positive attitude are influential and contagious. She also welcomes students and parents as they arrive to school every morning with a big smile at crosswalk, as she ensures their safety.

Lagos Elementary: Megan Travis

Ms. Travis is a PK teacher who has dynamic centers and excellent classroom management. Ms. Travis creates strong classroom lessons that are student centered and foster true PK readiness standards. She serves as a model for other teachers due to her structured centers. Parents are appreciative of the level of engagement she provides to her students. In addition, parents are thankful for the growth their children see by the end of the school year while in PK.

Ms. Tindell does an exceptional job providing actively engaging instruction for her kindergarten students that promote a love of learning. She has worked hard to meaningfully integrating International Baccalaureate instructional methodologies and rigorous lines of inquiry in her kindergarten classroom-becoming a true champion of this initiative at the Primary Level at MES. Ms. Tindell is a model for other staff members as a life long learner, enthusiastically applying newly learned professional development in her classroom and, helping others apply their learning, always working hard to push all of her students to reach their maximum potential.

Oak Meadows Elementary: Lauren Reeves

4th grade math and reading scores have soared compared to last year. Also, 4th grade hands on science approach will make a huge difference in 5th grade science next year. She models learning for her students and her colleagues. Lauren is a true team player and always has a positive attitude and expects the best of her students. Ms. Reeves commitment to preparing 4th grade science students for 5th grade is amazing. Each day is full of hands on activities and rigorous centers.

Ms. Vu is always pushing her students to succeed. She spends countless hours working to make sure they reach their potential. Ms. Vu is a wonderful teacher and is very involved in improving our campus culture. She is able to support our Vietnamese community with her outreach to translate.

Presidential Meadows Elementary: Matthew Ramsey

Mr. Ramsey works hard to ensure that all of our students are not only academically engaged in the science curriculum, but are genuinely excited to become young scientists. By providing hands-on and unique opportunities for our students, Mr. Ramsey makes sure that our students are able to perform at high levels in science and other content areas. Mr. Ramsey makes a point to go out of his way to be an ambassador for PME both on and off campus. He serves our students through our Chess Club, Robotics Club, UIL Academic teams and numerous other activities. He is a positive role model for our students and encourages staff to go above and beyond in their jobs as well.

ShadowGlen Elementary: Kaitlin Fox

Mrs. Fox is our resource and inclusion teacher. She works with students who could be perceived as our lowest yet she gets them to work at a high level and supports them academically and socially/emotionally.Ms. Fox serves on the SGE CAT and helps support teachers with classroom management across the campus. She often will do observations in classrooms and assist with behavior charts for students. This has helped our newest teachers feel supported and has increased the morale of the staff as a whole.

Ms. Dallaire has been at DMS since it opened.

Ms. Dallaire is very analytical in her teachings. She asks higher level questions and has high expectations for her students. She has classroom ambassadors who greet visitors at any given moment. Ms. Dallaire is a UIL coach as well as the ELA department chair. She takes other teachers under her wing and shares her expertise when given the opportunity.

We moved Charles into 8th SS in the middle of last year. 25 point increase in scores since he has been on the SS team. He has done professional development for his colleagues on how he implements organization and ipads in his classroom. He has a good rapport with parents, students and the community. He coaches and engages with parents and the community during athletic events. He is a team player and looks out for the overall success of his students. He works well with his colleagues and deserves this recognition.

Ms. Miller has very high expectations for all of her scholars and celebrates them all for a job well done. She supports her scholars as they develop personal agency, commitment, and scholar identity, and pushes them to focus on maintaining meritorious grades. She motivates all of her musicians to perform at the highest level in the classroom and on stage. Ms. Miller's attention to detail, thorough planning, and commitment to excellence is noticed by all staff at MNTMS. She lends her expertise with technology, logistics, and classroom instruction whenever she can. She cultivates meaningful professional relationships with teachers and scholars alike. She encourages everyone to give their best, as she strives to be even better everyday.

Ms. Pinget teaches TSI and Education 1300 College Classes. She teaches our freshmen the TSI college entrance exam as well as their first ever college class, and has a great relationship with students. She constantly stays in touch with parents and leads Anime club at MHS.

Ms. Sanchez has a great impact on academic student growth as she works diligently with students, meeting them where they are in order to provide them with the necessary skills to master the content. Ms. Sanchez has significantly enriched the professional learning of colleagues and improved campus culture by sharing ideas and implementing processes in her classroom that have worked for her at other campuses (and have proven to be successful here at MEA as well). She collaborates with others to ensure that all of our students' needs are being met. She is a great support person for our campus to rely on when we are short-staffed and need additional student support when duties need to be reassigned. She is always there to motivate her colleagues and support the team!

Manor High School: Robert Durand

Mr. Durand is a asset to Manor High School, and always thinking of innovative strategies to engage the students! Students enjoy his class, and he is able to foster a strong positive rapport with students as he instills a high level of motivation! Mr. Durand serves on several campus committees such as the CAT Team, AVID, a Lead Teacher for the WAMM Nation Student Advisory Committee, and CTE Team! Mr. Durand has gone above and beyond with his contributions with highly assisting and taking a teacher leadership role with campus safety protocols, helping with support needed in other classrooms, attending community events for the campus, and displaying the true definition of being a Team Player!

He has taken our Animation program to new levels and currently has two scholars competing for high honors at the state level in UIL and VASE! He also coordinates our bi-weekly game nights! Will is our Fine Arts Department Head and coordinates PLCs for his department and also provides logistical support for them. Will is not only a teacher, he is the parent of three scholars at our school and is actively involved in various campus activities and clubs to support the kids in our community!

Manor Senior High School: Anthony Swain

Coach Anthony Swain is the AVID teacher and Head Basketball Coach at Manor Senior High School. He instills high expectations in all of his students while helping them prepare for life after high school. Coach Swain is a Graduate of Manor High School and he has instilled a sense of community in his players – like when the Mustang basketball team would spend their mornings visiting elementary schools to welcome families and read to classrooms of scholars earlier this year. This passion for mentoring and teamwork is evident in his players, who, in just their second year with Coach Swain as head coach, are headed to the fourth round of the playoffs with the STATE Championship in reach!
